Summer Nail Polish Picks

Did you know that Essie has declared today National Nail Polish Day?  As far as we are concerned, nail polish is important everyday, but we are more than happy to celebrate this holiday!

We've already shown you some of our favorite beauty products for the summer, but we wanted to go more in depth with our favorite nail polishes.  If you're anything like us, you spend an inordinate amount of time trying to decide on your latest manicure color.  If you want to be on trend and in season, check out the following nail polish picks!

1.  Essie Bikini So Teeny:  This is one of our favorite nail colors of all time!  The periwinkle blue has a hint of shimmer and looks amazing on pretty much all skin tones.  It's perfect for a pedicure or a manicure if you're on vacation or have a less conservative work environment.

2.  Julep Penny: A shiny metallic polish always looks awesome shining in the sunlight.  This color is a mixture of rose gold and bronze and looks perfect on tanned skin.  As we've mentioned before, no one does metallics like Julep so this is a must buy!

3.  Essie Haute to Trot: Any summer nail polish list wouldn't be complete without a super girly pink.  Traditionally, we have avoided pink, but recently we've become obsessed.  It looks classic and goes with any sort of outfit, from casual to business formal.  Plus, we love the formula and brush of the Essie Gel Couture line so much!

4. OPI Cajun Shrimp: This polish is a classic for obvious reasons.  This bright coral-red combo can actually make your skin look more tan.  It makes a great vacation manicure, as it might be a little bright for everyday.  However, we love it all summer long on fingers or toes!

5. Essie Blanc: Can you believe that this is one of the original 12 Essie polish colors!  No wonder it has stood the test of time.  It's a flattering white that is pretty versatile and flattering.  Just make sure you use a great base coat (We like Essie, of course) and you may need to do three thin coats to prevent bubbles and ensure opaque coverage.

6. Essie Topless and Barefoot: This is the perfect nude polish for our skin tone so we wear it a lot.  In the summer, it looks great and natural with just a hint of color.  If this tone doesn't work with your skin, you might want to check out Essie's New Wild Nudes collection, which features many different neutral colors that might be a better match for you.

What nail polish colors do you love this summer?  Let us know in the comments below!
